The Pantry at Wilmington Community Church

We opened our new foodbank The Pantry, in October 2024. It is open once a week on a Thursday between 10am-12 noon in our Mission Hall at the lower end of our church site.

We have seen food poverty in our local community, with some people unable to access the foodbanks in Dartford and Swanley. We know of others who are isolated, or experiencing mental health illness, who would benefit from other support services, which we may be able to signpost them to.

Our vision as an independent food bank is to support local families and individuals within our local community with emergency food and supplies when they are in need and unable to provide those items for themselves. We welcome each person who comes to us, providing them with hospitality and support, in a non-judgmental way, offering signposting to other support services such as Porchlight, Citizens Advice, MIND, AA, counselling etc. We have links with Kent Adult Education and will promote relevant training to assist people looking to improve their skills and/or return to work.

We aim to enable people to access basic needs in a warm, welcoming space with refreshments provided and offer opportunities for increased social contact.

We are self-funded, run entirely by volunteers and will be reliant on grant funding and donations to meet the growing demand for our community led project.

If you are interested in making a donation of food, toiletries or supplies, these can be left in the church foyer. A list of current needs can be found on the BanktheFood app. App
